Why redact PDF?

Simply drawing black rectangle in Word does not remove text – anyone can copy behind it. True redaction permanently removes that area and replaces with solid color. Black vs White redaction

• Black: Most common for confidential – clearly shows something was hidden, professional for legal
• White: Clean look – hides without black marks, good for removing extra text and making document clean

How to redact PDF

1. Upload PDF – file name, size and pages count shown in file bar.
2. Editor loads – first page preview shown, Loading page... while rendering.
3. Drag over sensitive area – hold mouse and drag to mark box, it will show black or white as per color chosen.
4. Navigate pages – use left/right arrows to go 1 / 10, 2 / 10 etc and redact on each page.
5. Wrong box? Click that box to remove redaction.
6. Choose Redaction Color – Black or White in settings panel.
7. Check Total redactions count – e.g. 5 redactions, current page 2.
8. Enter Output file name – e.g. smart-maker-redacted becomes .pdf
9. Click Create Redacted PDF – progress shown, flattened PDF created.
10. Download Redacted PDF – shows redaction count and output size, safe to share.
