Why remove PDF metadata?

When you share resume, report or contract PDF, hidden metadata can reveal your computer name, username, software used, editing time, company name. That is privacy risk. For anonymous sharing, legal submission and official documents, metadata should be removed. Companies clean metadata before sending client files. Students clean metadata before submitting assignments to remove personal info. XMP can contain GPS or editing history.

How to remove PDF metadata

1. Upload PDF – preview, file size and page count shown, metadata check runs automatically.
2. See Metadata Status – if metadata found, shows amber box with field counts, if clean shows green box.
3. Check Detected metadata panel – lists Title, Author, Creator etc actual values.
4. Choose metadata to remove – 4 toggle cards, keep all on for max privacy, or toggle off if you want to keep some.
5. Enter Output file name.
6. Click Remove PDF Metadata – progress shown, Smart Maker cleans metadata.
7. Download Clean PDF – file name, pages, output size shown, download clean PDF button.
8. Content stays unchanged – only hidden info removed, visible text same.
